Neville A. Parker Award

The Neville A. Parker Awards are presented annually for the two best non-thesis papers/projects in transportation submitted for the M.S. degree in lieu of a M.S. thesis. The following guidelines apply:

  • Any transportation student at a CUTC member university that allows masters degree students the option of taking additional course work and writing a non-thesis paper/report/project in lieu of a M.S. thesis can be nominated for the award.
  • Awards will be made for two categories – Policy & Planning, and Science & Technology.
  • The faculty advisor/mentor must submit an unbound or electronic pdf copy of the student project/report/paper along with a Nomination Form indicating category preference.
  • Student must have a GPA of 3.5 or better.
  • There is no limit to the number of nominees that may be submitted by each CUTC university.
  • The project/report/paper must have been completed during the academic year of the award and must be certified as being the work of the student in partial fulfillment of the degree.

The winners will be recognized at the CUTC Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January in Washington, DC. A cash prize in the amount of $1,500 will be awarded to the winner in each category.
