Milton
Pikarsky Memorial Award
Charley V. Wootan Memorial Award
The Milton Pikarsky and Charley V. Wootan awards are given annually to four graduate students in transportation for the two best Ph.D. dissertations and M.S. theses. The following guidelines apply:
- Any Ph.D. or M.S. student in transportation at a CUTC member university can be nominated for these awards.
- Awards are made in two categories. The Milton Pikarsky awards are for Science & Technology and the Charley V. Wootan awards are for Policy & Planning.
- The faculty advisor/mentor must submit an unbound or electronic pdf copy of the student dissertation or thesis along with a Nomination Form indicating category preference.
- There is no limit to the number of nominees that may be submitted by each CUTC university.
- The dissertation or thesis must have been completed during the academic year of the award and must be certified as being the work of the student in partial fulfillment of the degree.
The winners will be recognized at the CUTC Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January in Washington, DC. A cash prize in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded to the Ph.D. winner in each category and $1,500 to the M.S. winner in each category.
